Discover what makes the limited edition Step Into Christmas 7-inch a standout holiday vinyl collectible, plus decision rules to help you decide if it's right for your collection.
Quick answer
If you collect holiday-themed vinyl or want a faithful replica of the original Dutch pressing, the Step Into Christmas Limited Edition 7in is a worthwhile addition. It's less suited to casual listeners who already own the single on another format.
Why the replica sleeve matters
This 7-inch re-issue reproduces the sleeve of the original Dutch pressing, which differs from standard releases. For collectors focused on historical accuracy or regional variants, that detail adds value beyond the music itself.
The green vinyl color reinforces the holiday theme and makes the record stand out visually. If you display your collection during the season, that aesthetic appeal is a genuine plus.
What the B-side adds
The B-side 'Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who’d Be A Turkey At Christmas)' is not available on many other Elton John compilations. If you already own 'Step Into Christmas' on a greatest-hits album, this 7-inch still gives you a track you likely don't have.
That said, the single runs about six minutes total. If you prioritize longer listening sessions over collectibility, a full LP or digital playlist might serve you better.
Decision rules for collectors
- You value packaging authenticity: Buy this 7-inch if you want a sleeve that faithfully mirrors the original Dutch pressing. The replica detail is a key draw for variant collectors.
- You want a rare B-side on vinyl: The B-side 'Ho! Ho! Ho!' is uncommon on other Elton John vinyl releases. This single gives you that track in a physical format.
- You already own the song on another format: If you have 'Step Into Christmas' on a compilation album or digital file, consider whether the green vinyl and unique sleeve justify the purchase. For casual fans, the upgrade may be minimal. Check your existing collection for these tracks before buying.
