Compare Elton John's Here and There live LP with the Caribou Remastered LP, from concert energy to studio craft, so you can pick the right spin for your mood and collection.
Quick answer
Choose Here and There LP if you want the raw energy of Elton John live in 1974; choose Caribou Remastered LP if you want a studio album remastered from the original analogue tapes. Both are single LPs at the same price, so your mood and listening setting should decide.
The core trade-off: concert energy vs studio polish
Here and There captures two 1974 concerts—one at London's Royal Festival Hall and one at Madison Square Garden—so you get the crowd, the improvisation, and the live arrangements that defined Elton's 1970s shows. Caribou Remastered LP is a studio album, remastered by Bob Ludwig from the original analogue tapes, which means a cleaner, more controlled sound that highlights the songwriting and production.
What the tracklists tell you about the listening experience
Here and There includes live versions of songs like 'Skyline Pigeon,' 'Border Song,' 'Honky Cat,' and 'Crocodile Rock,' plus a side-two 'Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding' that stretches out in concert. Caribou's studio originals are tighter and more polished, better for focused listening or background ambience. If you already own the studio versions, the live album offers a genuinely different performance.
Price and format: same cost, different value
Both LPs are listed at $16.99 (compared to a $24.99 catalog price), and both are single LPs. That means you're not paying a premium for either format. The decision comes down to whether you value a historical live document or a remastered studio classic more. Note that neither listing specifies vinyl weight, color, or pressing details, so if those matter to you, check the product pages for updates before ordering.
