Claire ★★★★★

Claw Hammer has this raw, gritty energy that I didn't expect from Elton, and the whole album feels like a live jam session. The production by T Bone Burnett really lets the piano and vocals cut through clean.

In The Name Of You is the standout for me, that piano hook gets stuck in my head for days. The mix sounds warm and live, which makes sense since it was recorded at the Village. Claw Hammer is a fun closer too.

Bought this for the car and the title track has already become a repeat play. T Bone Burnett's production keeps things warm and uncluttered, though a couple of the mid-album cuts drift by without sticking. Still a good pickup if you liked his earlier piano-driven stuff.
