Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing. 'Blue Moves' is the eleventh official album release by Elton John. Released in October 1976, It was John's second double album (after 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road') and the first to be released by his own label, Rocket Records Ltd. Despite the album's darker tone, on it's release it reached #3 on the charts, partly on the strength of the hit single "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word". The project is also marked by the string arrangements by James Newton Howard. John has stated that 'Blue Moves' is one of his favorites of the albums he has recorded. It was Gus Dudgeon's last album produced with John for almost a decade.

Joshua M. ★★★★★

Wasn't sure a 1976 double album needed the remaster treatment, but the 180gm pressing is dead quiet and "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" sounds warmer than my old copy ever did. Two LPs means a lot of flipping, though honestly that's half the charm here.

The second disc really shows off the quieter, gospel-tinged tracks like "Someone's Final Song" in a way my old copy never did. The 180gm pressing feels substantial and dead quiet between songs, and the gatefold holds both records snugly. Worth the upgrade if you've worn out your first copy.

I've owned the original 1976 pressing for years and this remaster finally brings out the horns on "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" without any of the crackle. Both LPs sit flat and centered, which hasn't always been my experience with double albums.
